lest you forget...

Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 9. And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you. You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you.
Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children.
The whole business of adding and subtracting from the Word of God, as happens daily in the sects/cults that claim the name of Christ, should really frighten and alarm us, when we consider that our God who says DON'T DO THAT! is a consuming fire. We are all susceptible to forgetfulness and our hearts tend to become "leaky" vessels. The remedy? Teach your children:) Don't have any left at home? Try grandchildren. Don't have any of them either? Remember that in 2009, 38% of births will be to single mothers (up from 5% or less in 1960!). Ask God how you can impact their lives with the Good News of Jesus!
